PWN2OWN: lie down to Mac and Windows, Ubuntu endures to the end

The PWN2OWN is a contest held between 26 and 29 March and created by the digital CanSecWest security conference. The goal is to discover new security flaws in the three most popular operating systems of the moment: Windows, Mac and Ubuntu.
The systems are installed in three different laptops, with its latest version, completely updated. Contestants are all very renowned hackers and security experts struggling to keep the laptop and a monetary prize of 10000 dollars. Leopard running on a Macbook Air Ubuntu 7.10 on a Sony Vaio and Windows Vista in a Fujitsu.
The first day will be allowed access only through the network, and nobody got into any system. The most shocking was that Mac OSX Leopard was the first to fall as soon as they are allowed access to the systems to do things like visiting websites. Charlie Miller found the portable Apple exploiting a bug in the Safari browser. Windows Vista endured until the last day, until Shane Macaulay got hacker hole. Ubuntu Dapper remained intact until the very end, holding as a champion.
This is not a contest to be draw many conclusions about the overall security of the three OS, just trying to discover new holes and force businesses to fix them as soon as possible. All three systems are exposed to several experts who develop applications and methods to take control using any vulnerability, and to try to do it as quickly as possible to pick up the prize. Therefore, we must be careful with the conclusions drawn and not think that the fact that they have hacked before Mac that Ubuntu does not mean that Ubuntu can not have many more security holes, which have not only wanted to develop them or is faster do it for another system… or simply that the hacker liked a lot more Macbook Air as the Sony Vaio.
