Microsoft Live Maps: news

If the other day we saw the plug to integrate Live Maps on Wordpress, today we must make a small review of some of the new options that have been added to Microsoft Live Maps and offer a power rather than interesting.

What I find most interesting is the official support of KML files. These files, developed by the company Keyhole, which was bought by Google to develop the technology Google Maps and Google Earth, described geographic data in three dimensions.

With the support of these files have an opportunity to view locations marked by other users on the maps. For example, a file may contain a list of all the locations interesting to see in a city.

Added to this the fact that KML has been adopted as standard by the Open Geospatial Consortium, which ensures that its specification is open and stable, and can introduce any. Already there are several applications that do, including the best-known Google Earth and Google Maps, but also Marble, a desktop application for KDE.
