Asus ESC 1000, its first supercomputer
When we speak of powerful computers we often think of models that allow us to safely play the latest titles appeared on the market, but the Asus ESC 1000, despite this full of graphics processors, is designed not just to play.
This is the first supercomputer from Asus, the Taiwanese company developed by the National Chao Tung University and Nvidia, and offers a computing power of 1.1 teraflops. It achieves this through the use of 960 core processor integrated within three c1060 Tesla and Quadro FX5800.
Nvidia has long demonstrated the possibilities of its graphics processors to perform calculations, and this is a clear example of what can be done with them. These, accompanying them, of course, an Intel 3.3 GHz Xeon LGA1366
The Asus ESC 1000 has 24 GB of RAM, a 500GB STA hard drive and has a size of 44 × 21 × 54 inches. Its price has not been disclosed, but according to the spec sheet has a cost of nearly $ 15,000.
